AUTOMOTIVE EVENT— The 2014 Season of the Formula DRIFT Championship is underway and got off to a rocking start at Round One in Long Beach, California earlier this month. The excitement kicked off during the qualifying rounds. Whittling down the field to the top 32 drivers, there was a lot of excitement in store for the main event. The Dorman brothers were there to capture Love Potion Number One of Formula DRIFT.
GALLERY—It’s the 25th anniversary of the Sports Car Club of America’s Pirelli World Challenge, and at the 40th anniversary of the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach, it was The Roar by the Shore. Editor John Grafman was there for the 2014 edition earlier this month, and we have the roaring images here.
GALLERY—No, it’s not the Showtime hit TV show, albeit it is a hit and there’s enough show time at this event to make the Pat Riley-era Lakers proud. It’s the International Motorsports Association sanctioned TUDOR United SportsCar Championship, and it happened at the 2014 Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach. We have the freeze frames from John Grafman to showcase.
GALLERY—You’ve seen Brian Kennedy and Gabriela Moya’s coverage of the 2014 Toyota Grand Prix at Long Beach on the pages of LA Car. However, even three articles and three photo galleries is not enough to cover all of what happened during the Southland’s greatest international motorsports event. Here are scenes from the big race, as seen through the lens of Editor John Grafman.
AUTO REVIEW—Believe it or not, it’s the 20th anniversary of the compact crossover. Although it didn’t make it to the States until 1995, the RAV4 became the first compact crossover SUV when it was introduced in Japan and Europe in 1994. With the RAV4 now into its fourth generation, what better way to celebrate the anniversary than to take this automotive pioneer onto one of the original highways of the U.S. Highway System—the Mother Road itself: Historic Route 66.
