Pictures by Roy Nakano The hissing of summer lawns you hear at the Arboretum in Arcadia is from the 30 Cobras on display. On October 6th and 7th, the Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanical Garden had the Cobras nesting on the greens, including some rare 289 and 427 Shelby Cobra originals. LA Car was there to capture the serpents in their unnatural habitat.

Whether your passion is cars, trees or auto design, the Cobra exhibit offered a new way to experience the Arboretum. The late Carroll Shelby introduced the Cobra in 1962 and it became a legendary racing vehicle soon thereafter. The owners were on hand to answer questions. Children had their photos taken in a Cobra go-cart (see gallery) and participated in a scavenger hunt. The first 250 who completed the hunt each day received a Hot Wheels car.
