Summit: Designing Sustainable Mobility Date: Wednesday-Thursday, February 7-8, 2007 Location: Art Center College of Design, South Campus, Wind Tunnel Website: www.artcenter.edu/summit Registration is still open for The Art Center Summit: Designing Sustainable Mobility, a first-of-its-kind event that will bring together designers, engineers, scientists, product planners, government officials and leading educators for a critical exchange of ideas and information, with a focus on the vital role design will play in helping to identify and achieve sustainable goals. An illustrious and diverse group of speakers will emphasize how designers, and those who work with them, can turn ideas into profitable yet sustainable business solutions. Keynote speaker will be Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., environmentalist, professor, lawyer and senior attorney for the Natural Resources Defense Council. Introducing Mr. Kennedy will be actor and environmental activist Ed Begley, Jr. Others include Christopher Flavin (President, Worldwatch Institute), Christopher E. Bangle (Director of BMW Group Design, BMW Group), David Goodstein, Ph.D. (Vice Provost, Professor, Caltech, Author of Out of Oil), Dean Kamen (Inventor, Entrepreneur, Founder of DEKA Research & Development Corporation), and Amory Lovins (CEO, Rocky Mountain Institute). Evening Program Keynote: Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., with introduction by Ed Begley, Jr. Date: Wednesday, February 7, 2007 Time: 7:30 pm Location: Art Center College of Design, Hillside Campus Open to the public and free of charge. Pre-Summit: Sustainability by Design Date: Tuesday, February 6, 2007 Location: Art Center College of Design, Hillside Campus On Tuesday, February 6th, in conjunction with the Summit, Art Center will offer a full-day intensive introduction to the topic of sustainability: Sustainability by Design at the Hillside campus. Industry experts and educators from around the country will share their experience and give a broad overview of sustainability concepts, a glimpse into sustainability in practice and an opportunity to see how sustainability practices might shape the future.
