It’s another new/ first-time event for L.A. and we can only judge it from afar at this point.  But, from the guest list, and the hype in the press release, it well might be worth a shot ... It has a long title and an even longer undertitle: “THE INAUGURAL LOS ANGELES CLASSIC AUTO SHOW JANUARY 27-29 2017 The Los Angeles Classic Auto Show Will Showcase Classic Auto Celebrities and the Finest Classic, Collector and Vintage Automobiles” (deep breath), it’s imported from the UK (where car shows are usually pretty darn good) and there’s a bunch of Automobile TV people who are “scheduled to appear”, it's at the Convention Center ...  and it all sounds very very L.A. The pre-event press pre-describes it as: “... being the ultimate experience for any auto enthusiast ... (with) ... something for everyone.” Vintage car people, parts (there’s a swap meet promised right in the middle of the whole thing), books, assorted chunks memorabila and all sorts of: “... muscle and exotic cars.”

There’s also a “Celebrity Theater”, where fans can interact with some of the aforementioned TV auto stars the likes of Chip Foose and Chris Jacobs of Overhaulin’, Dave Kindig of Bitchin’ Rides, Mike Brewer of Wheeler Dealers, Wayne Carini of Chasing Classic Cars and Mike Phillips of Competition Ready. Bruce Meyer, has the show’s Grand Marshall honors and will be there not only to cut the opening ribbon on Friday, but on duty most of the weekend keeping kids with melting ice cream cones and dudes with cowboy belt buckles away from some of his classic cars that he’ll be bringing along to the show (just kidding Bruce XOXO). Also billboarded are reps from an assortment of car clubs including Austin Healey Club of Southern California, International Thunderbird Club, Jaguar Owner’s Club of Los Angeles, Orange County Mustang Club, Road Kings of Burbank, and San Fernando Valley Model “A” Ford Club, with more to be added by showtime.

Of course there’ll be a Manufacturer’s Row featuring a wide variety of cool automotive wants and needs (like:) Autogeek.com; McKee’s 37; Hagerty; BBK Performance; Odyssey Battery; Shell X; Borla Exhaust; Masterson’s Auto Care; Tub O’ Towels; Akzo Performance Industries, Inc.; Sikkens; Thread Wizard; Kicker; GREX; Reelcraft; Heacock Classic; Castle Country RV; MetroVac; Chequered Flag; Bernal Auto Style, Autobooks-Aerobooks, and Hillbank Motor Corporation, with more to be added. The Classic Auto Show is supported by media sponsors that include: DuPont Registry; Historic Vehicle Association; Old Cars Weekly; Vintage Road Car/Vintage Race Car; ClassicCars.com; Auto Round-Up; SoCal Car Culture and Los Angeles Magazine.

This is a new show that sounds great, and, as we all know the word “Classic” encompasses and covers a VERY wide range of ideas automotive.  From here, I’d say that if the promoters can carry off 70% of what’s promised in their releases and on the event's website it’ll be well worth the effort.  We’ll be attending and really would like to hear back from you if you go.  -DS (IN THEIR OWN WORDS) ABOUT THE CLASSIC AUTO SHOW Presented by Autogeek.com & McKee’s 37 and the Velocity Network in tandem with Urban Expositions and Clarion Events, The Classic Auto Show will take place on January 27-29, 2017 at the Los Angeles Convention Center: South Hall.
