HOT WIRE— For the first time, there will be a live audio broadcast of the 2013 Bonneville Speed Week. The high speed streaming of this high speed event is courtesy of the Southern California Timing Association through its website at scta-bni.org. “This is a first for the SCTA in officially releasing real time audio information from the famed Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah during this year’s Speed Week,” says SCTA Secretary and Chief Timer Scott C. Andrews.
AUTO REVIEW—“It’s okay not to publish this one,” says the editor-at-large, after turning in a less-than-enthusiastic review of the 2013 Kia Rio5 SX. “Kias and their kissin’ cousin Hyundais have been hailed by many (including this reviewer) as some of best, all-time, automotive bargains. And I’d go along with that for the most part, but (heard that coming right?) I never really felt totally comfortable with this car.”
AUTO REVIEW— Anyone who ever played with a Hot Wheels car as a kid (yours truly included) has imagined being behind the wheel of such a cool, sporty, exceptionally fast vehicle. Since shrinking oneself to fit a toy car isn’t possible (at least not yet), Chevrolet gives us the opportunity to realize this childhood dream through a vehicle that is truly hard to resist – the 2013 Chevy Camaro 2SS Hot Wheels Edition. Reed Berry reports.
AUTO REVIEW— Like the six-year old kid who got the most wanted Christmas toy, Ford Motor Company has been taking its EcoBoost line of engines everywhere and bragging about them to anyone who will listen. To date, Ford has put EcoBoost I4’s and V6’s in everything from the Fiesta to the venerable F-150; all the while daring any other kid on the block with a V8 to just try to beat them in a race.
