MORNING OCTANE
at the Pasadena Rose Bowl

GALLERY— Some things seem to go together. When I say cars, the first thing that pops into your mind probably isn’t coffee, but cars and coffee do pair quite nicely when you attend a car show at 8 am on a cool, overcast morning. A decent crowd has turned out in a perimeter parking lot at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena for an event called Morning Octane which, according to organizers, is designed to be “a morning of supercars, friends and coffee.” Reed Berry reports.

REMEMBERING THE KING OF COBRAS
The Carroll Shelby Tribute & Car Show

AUTO SHOW— While the general public may know Mr. Shelby as the crafter of fast cars, the attendees at the Second Annual Carroll Shelby Tribute & Car Show were also able to learn about the philanthropic exploits of the man as well. Both parts of Mr. Shelby’s legacy were celebrated at the event, which took place at the future home of the Carroll Shelby Automotive Museum in Gardena, California.

A Ringer at Ford’s EcoBoost Challenge

LA CAR REPORT—Ford invited LA Car to join them for the EcoBoost Challenge at Santa Anita Park, so we sent former Lotus 18 racer Doug Stokes to the occasion. It was suppose to be a showcase for Ford’s EcoBoost technology, but it also ended up being a showcase for Doug to smoke the driving competition, with the one-time executive director of the International Kart Federation bogarting the top spots throughout the day. So, what does Doug have to say about the EcoBoost Challenge?

THE BIG FIVE 0
Happy Birthday, Mustang

EVENT— A few weeks after its official 50th birthday (born April 17, 1964), the Ford Mustang was roundly and properly feted in Southern California during Mustang Madness, which started at Galpin Ford in Sherman Oaks, traveled through the streets of Los Angeles, and ended at the Petersen Automotive Museum in the Wilshire Center. Sunday was a bigger day than Saturday, with a car show, a couple of special talks, guided tours of the museum’s 50thanniversary Mustang display, and the big draw—a sneak peek at the upcoming 2015 Mustang GT.
