Scenes from the 2015 Model OC International Auto Show

EVENT—It’s Southern California’s first auto show of the model year. That alone made the 2015 Model Orange County International Auto Show worth the price of admission. It’s all about the new cars. And the OC show had plenty of that—new cars, a number of high-end exotics, over 100 test drive opportunities, electric vehicles and more. The show draws from a very big crowd—Orange County and Long Beach. Here are 50 scenes from the show at the Anaheim Convention Center.

2015 Cadillac Escalade Premium

AUTO REVIEW— Being a car guy, as in I drive a car every day, I hadn’t fully appreciated why someone would want to drive a big-ass SUV on daily errands. Getting up close and personal with the 2015 Cadillac Escalade changed all that. This is the Shaquille O’Neal of SUVs. Harold Osmer reports.

10th Annual Japanese Classic Car Show

EVENT—It’s been 10 years since the first Japanese Classic Car Show. When Japanese cars first arrived on American shores back in the 1950s and 60s, no one could have predicted they would one day rise to collector status. But that is exactly what happened. And on September 27th, we saw a collection of the pioneering Toyota Coronas on display as if they were still in 1965, along with an array of groundbreaking Datsun 510s, a contingent of Honda 600s, the first rotary-powered Mazda, the beautiful Toyota 2000GT, and the rest of the automotive cast from the other side of the Pacific pond at the port of the Queen Mary.

FR-Ses, BRZs and AE86s invade Irwindale

EVENT— The car is practically brand new, but the festival devoted to it is already an institution. We’re talking about 86FEST, the car show devoted to the trio of Hachi-Roku cars—the 1980s Toyota Corolla AE86 and its current-day successors, the new Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ, both of which were code named the FT86 prior to production. All three have stellar reputations in drifting circles. All three are rear-wheel drive. And owners of all three converged at Irwindale Speedway on a Sunday in September, for the third annual 86FEST.
