AUTO REVIEW— When Ford sold Volvo car brand (the Swedes still build heavy trucks) to Zhejiang Geely Holding Company for $1.5 billion, the automotive world held its collective breath wondering what will come out of it. The new, 2016 Volvo S60 T5 Drive-E Inscription Platinum is the latest arrival to our shores from the new manufacturing facility in China. Geely watches the purse and machines, Göteborg handles design. The overall result? Impressive.
AUTO REVIEW— Rain fell heavily upon us when picking up our review RAV4. It soon dawned on us that our review method involves treating a car as we would our very own. This includes a COSTCO run, a trip to Lowes, and daily errands. Toyota’s 2016 RAV4 Hybrid Limited is a champ in wet conditions. Seven inches of ground clearance combined with a relatively high seating position and Electronic On-Demand All-Wheel-Drive system quickly put all control questions to rest.
LA CAR REPORT— Axis Wheels founder James Chen is no stranger to innovation. James noticed the uptick in mobile services including dog grooming, house cleaning, and the like. He asked why people should have sit and wait at their local tire shop while their tires were mounted and balanced. Why couldn’t the tire shop come to them? Thus, ASAP Tire was born. Glenn Oyoung reports.
BOOK REVIEW – About six pages into this book, this reviewer felt an abiding, over-arching, almost un-controllable urge to cleverly rewrite the lyrics to the Rogers and Hammerstein classic: “How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria” from “The Sound of Music”. I’m here to report that I’ve so far resisted that (what must be a rather horrifying thought for anyone reading this far) and will simply quote the last line of the song here: “…How do you hold a moonbeam in your hand?” How, indeed?
