Lamborghini North Los Angeles celebrates its grand opening of a showroom at the Westfield Topanga. Placing the dealership and showroom in an upscale shopping center is new for Lamborghini in this country. The dealership is owned by The Auto Gallery, which has a selection of automobile dealerships (besides Lamborghini) in the L.A. area.
Showing exclusive cars in a shopping center might not be so daunting. We’ve all seen the occasional car as we drift in and out of stores. However, this Lamborghini showroom not only hosts a selection of cars for the looking, they will sell these on the spot. You can arrive at the shopping center in a Lexus, and drive off with your new Jimmy Choo shoes in a Lamborghini!
And yes, it happens: Husbands buy a Lamborghini, while wives are in Neiman Marcus (or vice versa). Tony Schwartz, the owner of The Auto Gallery, says he’s seen it on several occasions.
I’m given the opportunity to take the yellow Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera (below)--unveiled earlier this year at the Geneva Auto Salon--for a not-so-routine spin around the block. The spin is thrilling, so say the least. Even in rush hour traffic, one experiences extreme acceleration, flat corning and extraordinary adhesion to the road. With a center of gravity about as low as you can go, you have to really want to lose traction before the Superleggera lets go of the road below it.
All-in-all, the grand opening is a smash. With the invited VIP guests sipping Lamborg-tinis, models showing off apparel from Boss, Tourneau, as well as merchandise from the Automobili Lamborghini Collezione fashion line, and an array of beautiful cars, what else would one expect?
