In Honor of the Jaguar E-Type’s 50th Anniversary and Celebration at The Pebble Beach Concours D’Elegance®, Galpin Jaguar Unveils a Custom, One-of-a-Kind XK Roadster GALLERY— Galpin Jaguar, the biggest Jaguar dealer in the nation, revealed their Commemorative Edition XK Jaguar to recognize the 50-year history of the E-Type Jaguar sports car. The Commemorative Edition XK is custom painted to match an original Primrose painted 1970 E-Type that is fully restored and part of Galpin’s private automotive collection (which includes an original 1961 E-Type, 1954 XK140 coupe customized by the renowned Von Dutch, and a 1994 XJ220). During the unveiling of the matching Jaguars, Galpin Motors VP Beau Boeckmann commented, “I agree with Enzo Ferrari’s statement that the E-type Jaguar is the most beautiful automotive sports car design ever. I could not miss the opportunity to celebrate the E-Type’s 50th anniversary.” Known more commonly as the XK-E in the United States, the E-Type Jaguar was first revealed at the 1961 Geneva Motor Show. Worldwide appreciation for the E-Type’s automotive design is further supported by its permanent display in the Museum of Modern Art in New York. During the reveal of the unique pair of Jaguar sports cars, Boeckmann added, “The 50th anniversary inspired me to pay homage to one of the classic E-Type colors, Primrose. I chose to customize a new 2011 Jaguar XK roadster to match our own classic Primrose E-Type roadster.” Boeckmann is also President of Galpin Auto Sports (GAS), which coordinated the customization of the new XK Jaguar. In addition to the exterior Primrose paint, the interior wood trim has been color-matched to enhance the vintage effect on the new XK Jaguar as well as a black chrome treatment applied to the factory chrome trim and 20-inch wheels to complete the distinctive customization. “It seemed only natural for us to offer a unique matching pair of these very special Jaguars,” said Brian Allan, Galpin Jaguar’s General Manager. “The E-Type is legendary and the current XK series sports cars continue Jaguar’s tradition of beautiful, fast cars.” Allan added that Galpin Jaguar will offer the cars for sale separately, or as a pair for just under $200,000. The matching Jaguars will be on display initially during the 2011 Pebble Beach Concours D’Elegance® 50th Anniversary celebration for the Jaguar E-Type and then in the Jaguar showroom at the Galpin Premier Collection in Los Angeles.
