The Community-Driven Promise will help customers affected by the COVID-19 pandemic by giving them a financial cushion.

With the financial uncertainty swirling around because of the COVID-19 virus, a car payment is the last thing on people’s mind. Volkswagen looks to assist with that by offering eligible customers a little breathing room. Named the Community-Driven Promise, this initiative will provide 90 days of payment assistance for customers directly affected by the virus. This plan is being handled by Volkswagen and Volkswagen Credit (VCI).

Customers in good standing with VCI will also be given a few other options. These include up to 90-day payment deferrals without fees, lease extensions up to six months and waiving past maturity fees in certain circumstances. Through April 30, VCI is offering new customers the option of delaying their first payments for up to 180 days combined with 0% APR financing for up to 72 months.

“We know this pandemic has caused significant stress and worry across America, and is putting financial strain on millions of households,” said Scott Keogh, CEO of Volkswagen of America. “We have a commitment to help our customers, our dealers, our employees and our communities in a time of crisis.”

Volkswagen has launched an ad campaign detailing the Community-Driven Promise. The top video is in English, the bottom video is in Spanish.

“Our customers remain our focus,” said Anthony Bandmann, CEO and president, VCI. “We want to be a source of support and relief in these uncertain times.”
