Monterey County is in desperate need of blood. One way to contribute is to visit WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca on January 23 during their blood drive. In 2020, blood drives at WeatherTech Raceway generated enough to save 369 lives. This year, they hope to increase that number as much as possible.

In exchange for your blood donation, you’ll receive a complimentary Friday ticket to the Hyundai Monterey Sports Car Championship on September 10-12. Below is the full press release.

Following a string of successful blood drives in 2020, and in a gesture of continued partnership, Vitalant has confirmed that January 23 will be the first date of 2021 for a blood drive in the Natividad Medical Center at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. Appointments are available from 12 – 4 p.m., and in exchange for their life-saving donation, participants will be given a complimentary Friday ticket to the Hyundai Monterey Sports Car Championship taking place Sept. 10-12.

Strictly adhering to current COVID-19 protocols, Vitalant remains attentive to social distancing, taking patient temperatures, and sanitizing donation stations between patients. Per the 2020 Vitalant guidelines, all donors have the option to receive a free COVID-19 antibody screening, if desired.

It is estimated that the amount of blood received from the drives in 2020 was enough to save 369 lives. As a result of those successful events, WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca was an Editor's Choice Award winner, named by TripSavvy as one of 2020’s Quick Responders. The award recognizes facilities that used their resources for the good of the local community this past year.

Donation appointments made in advance are strongly encouraged, as social distancing measures are easier to maintain, though walk-ins will be accepted provided that posted safety protocols are followed. The usual $5 day use fee for Laguna Seca Recreation Area will be waived for participants when they come through the gate for the drive.
