Picture this: You ease into the Recaro seat of your brand new 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 and breathe in that new car smell. You stare at that iconic cobra set into the steering wheel. Your eyes follow the light glinting off of the large piece of carbon fiber as it spreads across the dashboard, ending on a GT500 chassis number badge. You’ve made it. There’s 760 horsepower primed inches from your right foot.

Now obviously, you can drive. Why buy this car if you don’t like your kidneys rearranged while getting on the interstate? But can you really drive? Are you truly up to the task of transforming into a speed-crazed lunatic, unlocking the full potency of this masterpiece?

Luckily for you, Ford has added a little extra sugar to go along with your purchase: a complimentary driving experience aptly named ‘GT500 Track Attack’.

The GT500 Track Attack program is a one-day classroom/track experience designed to unlock ultimate thrill. Taking place at Charlotte Motor Speedway in North Carolina, owners will be instructed at the new Ford Performance Racing School. Drivers will test the limits of their GT500s on both road course and drag strip.

Owners will master every aspect of driving their GT500s, including on-track braking and cornering techniques, proper driving positions, and launch control. The outstanding group of instructors is comprised of championship-winning drivers, so it’s safe to say they know what they’re doing.

The GT500 Track Attack’s expenses are fully covered by Ford; you’re only responsible for travel and lodging. There is also an available option to attend the school a second day and drive either a Ford Performance Racing School (FPRS) 2015 Mustang GT, or a 2015 FRPS Mustang GT with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. Prices for this second day experience are $1,695 and $1,995, respectively.

If you include yourself in the prestigious 2020 GT500 owner’s circle, this is an absolute must. This car is meant to be pushed by your skillset, and what better way to acquire these skills than a free official driving school?

Hey, Mr. Shelby didn’t design cars to sit in your garage. They’re meant to be driven. Really driven.
