Ryan Tuerck is a star on the Gardella Racing line-up, driving a Chevrolet Camaro sponsored by Mobil1 and Red Bull. Competing in America’s most popular drift circuit, Formula DRIFT, Tuerck looks to find success and power his way to the top of the charts. I had a chance to catch up with him at his last race and learn a little more about his racing program.
Tuerck’s Camaro is a serious drift machine. Tuned by Pfadt Race Engineering and cranking out 750+ horsepower just about an equal amount of pound-feet in torque, he is literally in the driver’s seat to perform and deliver the results the team is looking for. With a custom-built LS7 motor, you know the reliability factor is in his favor, with no sacrifice coming from engine power or capabilities to deliver the power to his Nitto tires.
“I think the Camaro suits my driving style,” says Ryan Tuerck, “I like to drive with a lot of angle and create a lot of tire smoke using more throttle. Having a bigger car allows me to do that. I really enjoy driving this car and I think the crowd likes it too.”
Currently sitting seventh in the point standings, Tuerck looks ahead with two rounds left to be played out in the 2011 season. The team has seen positive progression in the development of his Camaro and spirits are high hoping that things are moving in the right direction. Team owner Gary Gardella speaks very highly of this program, and when one mentions the support of his sponsors you can sense his enthusiasm.
All of the members on the team seem to enjoy being on-site working the race weekend and contributing to the efforts of Gardella Racing and driver Ryan Tuerck. It’s equally exciting to learn about the support the team has and how much product sponsors come into play. It’s clear that without the help, it wouldn’t be possible to do what they do. “Mobil1 is the best oil company out there and they make a phenomenal product,” says Ryan Tuerck, “We never have any problems with our motor and we change the oil after every two races or so.”
