MXA (Cycle World) UP ON TWO By BT Justice The 2008 Cycle World International Motorcycle Show presented by Toyota is fun and information filled. This is a traveling show which rode into Long Beach Friday, December 5th and lasted through Sunday, December 7th. It was a great opportunity to see debuts of several models, as well as shop for a whole variety of bikes, ATVs, and accessories. I personally bought a new helmet and protective riding jacket at well-off retail prices. Like most shows, it is a great way to compare all in one place. I compared, and tried on. Yes, I walked out with a helmet head. Of course, the best thing is looking at and sitting on the very cool bikes, from cruisers to sport bikes to rice rockets, from a large number of manufacturers. The show also included a number of ATVs and scooters.

(Cycle World) While the focus is on the high powered ultra cool bikes, there was a whole section of green scooters; easy to ride and very energy efficient. While I like the power and pizzazz of motorcycles, and the more CCs, the better, I have to admit that I enjoy to laid back fun of riding a scooter as well. So yes, something for everyone. Several manufacturers also offer a ride and drive which includes a number of different bikes you can test out. Another benefit of the show are the presentations. For instance, I enjoyed the presentation on motorcycle safety and the one on motorcycle gear. There are also rider seminars and clinics.

Bostrom Bros Yamaha R6 For those asking why this has any relevance to LA Car, well, think Honda and Suzuki. And note it is sponsored by Toyota. There is an obvious nexus. The bottom line, in Southern California, many bikes and ATVs are towed to more conducive areas. That requires a tow vehicle. Hence, Toyota's involvement. All-in-all, the 2008 motorcycle show is entertaining, informative, and a great way to spend the weekend.
