Back in 1995, it started as a fundraiser to build a soccer field. Since then, it’s become the world’s largest one-day automotive event. It’s the Woodward Dream Cruise, and it draws 1.5 million people and 40,000 classic cars.
Green Day sings about the boulevard of broken dreams. On Woodward Avenue, the dreams continue onward unbroken. The cars and spectators come from all corners of North America as well as places as far away as New Zealand, Australia, Japan and the former Soviet Union to take part in the cruise down Woodward Avenue in Detroit. As is the case every year, our man in Michigan, Mark Dapoz, was there to freeze frame the event.
