Southern California has hundreds, maybe thousands of car shows in any given year. Hot rods, street rods, muscle cars, sports cars, classic cars—you name it, the Southland delivers it in abundance. Yet, we know of only one show devoted to American Motors Corporation (AMC) cars—the Ramblers, Nashes, Javelins, AMXes, Rebels, Marlines and the like from days gone by.
That’s the West Coast All AMC Car Show, and SoCalAMX just sponsored the ninth annual such show. LA Car was in Montclair, California to see a beautiful bed of these automotive rarities in full blossom. It’s a good reminder that American classic cars in the last half of the 20th century is not just about Ford, General Motors and Chrysler Corporation. It’s also about American Motors, which was led by George Romney, gave us Hudson, Jeep, pioneered the American compact car (Nash, Rambler), brought us the all-wheel drive crossover (Eagle), and America’s “other” two-seat sports car, the AMX.
