Pictures by Mark Dapoz 20 years ago, it started as a fundraiser to build a soccer field. Since then, it’s become the world’s largest one-day automotive event. It’s the Woodward Dream Cruise, and it draws 1.5 million people and 40,000 classic cars. Green Day sings about the boulevard of broken dreams. On Woodward Avenue, the dreams continue onward unbroken. The cars and spectators come from all corners of North America and beyond to take part in the cruise down Woodward Avenue in Detroit. This year, even John Schnatter, the founder of Papa John’s, brought his 1971 Camaro (more on that here). Our man in Michigan, Mark Dapoz, was there to freeze frame the event.
