Whether you live in LA or are just visiting, street fairs can be a great way to get a local feel for the city. The only problem is: which ones do you attend? As fellow Angelinos, we love the street fairs more than anyone. So here are our picks for some fantastic Los Angeles Street Fairs.

The oldest street in the city of Los Angeles, and therefore the oldest street fair. Many street fairs tend to have a lot of overlap, with the same types of food and vendors. Olvera Street is totally unique, and home to some of the best and oldest taquitos around.

3rd and Fairfax, home of the Original Farmers Market, has been a Los Angeles institution long before street fairs became fashionable. It has some of the best food around mixed with classic LA culture for a fantastic overall experience.

Smorgasburg boasts that it is the largest open air food market in the USA, with the LA and NY editions attracting some 50,000 people to eat from 100 local vendors.

Monrovia Street Fair and Market

Aside from it being just 1-1/2 blocks from our house, Monrovia's Friday night farmer's market is one of the largest small town fairs. Having the fair in the middle of Old Town Monrovia, taking up several blocks, certainly helped.

South Pasadena Farmer's Market

It's not the largest of the local fairs, but it's still a lovely gathering in the upscale area of downtown South Pasadena. Best of all, the Goldline light rail stops right in the middle of the South Pasadena Farmer's Market, meaning you can ditch the car and enjoy the scenery along the way to the fair.
