Hot Wheels Legends Tour: Part Deux

Hot Wheels brings back its popular “Legends Tour,” Jay Leno to judge at El Segundo stop

The bigwigs at Mattel know when they are on to something. After the overwhelming turnout for last year’s inaugural “Legends Tour” nationwide which drew over 3,600 cars and 65,000 fans, you’d have to be pretty out of touch to think Hot Wheels fans wouldn’t notice if Mattel just left it at that.

This year’s tour makes a stop today (Saturday, May 17th) at Mattel’s HQ in El Segundo. If you’re in the area and can make the trek to the South Bay, you will get to see the official unveil of the 2JetZ die-cast and special appearance by last year’s winner, Luis Rodriguez.

Jay Leno will be on hand along with other special guest judges and Hot Wheels will bring out their Legends car fleet and vending truck to separate Hot Wheels addicts including yours truly from our money. Honda, Walmart, Mobil1, Dickies, Mechanix, and Xbox will also be on hand.

Most importantly, if it is anything like last year I expect to see some truly creative builds by some passionate do-it-yourselfers. I was astonished by the variety of unique cars when I stumbled upon the Legends Tour last year at the Walmart in Pico Riviera. Judging from the response so far from this year’s Miami and Houston stops, tomorrow should be off the proverbial chain. If you are a Hot Wheels fan, you may want to re-arrange your Saturday.

When:Saturday, May 18
Time:9am-1pm (shuttles to/from event will be running all day)
Where:Hot Wheels Headquarters 2031 Mariposa Ave. El Segundo, CA 90245(Parking at Mattel Tower, 333 Continental Blvd. El Segundo, CA 90245)
