Porsche debuts “Project Gold,” a new-and-improved 993-generation 911 Turbo to be auctioned for charity

With the likes of Singer, Emory Motorsports, and Guntherwerkes taking old Porsches and resto-modding them (to put it very lightly) it was only a matter of time that more would jump on the WE HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY to  make your 911 “Better, Faster, Stronger”  bandwagon. I didn’t expect the latest entry to come from Porsche itself though. And yet those wily geniuses in Stuttgart have not only thrown themselves into the mix but they’ve done so with gusto.

The result is “Project Gold,” a head-turning 993-generation 911 Turbo that has been given the makeover of a lifetime by Porsche craftsman over the course of several years. On October 27, 2018, “Project Gold” will be offered at the RM Sotheby’s Porsche 70th Anniversary Sale at PEC Atlanta. All proceeds will go to the Ferry Porsche Foundation. Take the last of the air-cooled Porsches, give it a 100%  rebuild by Porsche itself, and allocate the proceeds to charity. I suspect this special 911 will fetch more than its weight in gold.
